Roo is a beautiful 8-10 year old female chihuahua Lucy's took as an owner surrender in 2020. Her humans moved to California; their grandson tried keeping Roo but had two larger dogs that looked at her as a 'chew toy'. Roo likes men, especially my husband, but unless I have food or a treat in my hand, wants to find out if I really do taste like chicken. Tootie (Toot Toot Tootie Marie) - Tootie came from the Denton Animal Shelter 6 years ago(?) If I didn't know better, I'd swear she was Roo's sister from another mother! It took about a week before Tootie realized I am the chief cook and bottle washer and it would be in her best interest not to bite mama. She will, however, not think twice about biting ANYONE else - ask those who have in the past/present met this pretty girl. |
& Permanent Residents Blondie was found in Mt Olivet cemetery almost five years ago. This gal was/is full of fear. She had coccidia when rescued. She was vetted and has stayed in rescue because she trusts no one. We trap her once a year for a bath and vaccines. TODAY, 10/02/2021 I picked Blondie up & held her for a few minutes this morning - a major accomplishment for this beauty. Becca was pulled from the Collin County Animal shelter 15 years ago - one of the first brought into Lucy's. This poor gal was just a few months old when we picked her up but had been so badly abused we were told, it was all we could do get her to a vet for an annual checkup over the years. She even started climbing the stairs and began sleeping with us about two years ago, but does NOT like to be held and will wrestle with you until you put her down to this day. Becca has no teeth now, and has, on occasion had accidents in our bed - very frustrating - but I just keep the sheets changed. She's a beautiful soul; just got a terribly wrong start in life. What a shame. Cinnamon - beautiful chocolate female chihuahua, under 5. Cinnamon, we hope, will calm down in time and hopefully become 'socially acceptable' while she is still young enough to find her forever. Her human passed away earlier this year and she is in boarding at this time (NO FOSTERS). She just doesn't care much for anyone but the young woman that feeds her. For fear she would bite, injuring members of a new family at this time, she will stay in boarding until such time a one on one foster home is found. |
IN MEMORY Stormy was living in a car in Springtown. Her human passed away unexpectedly leaving several pups in need. Her daughter did the best she could, but she herself had no income and contacted Lucy's for help. We took five of the chihuahuas and placed all but Sister (passed away in October 2020) and Stormy. Stormy has had a malignant tumor removed, TWICE, from around her right rear hip/leg. They are unable to remove the entire tumor because of the location. It returned once again and Stormy was allowed to cross the Rainbow Bridge and not suffer with it any longer. RIP sweet girl! Marley is a 'young' feisty gal pulled from the NRH animal shelter. She's a sweet gal, and may even possibly see shadows but for the most part, Marley is blind. Lucy's is operated on donations from generous animal lovers and by various fundraising programs. We can always use donations of any kind and volunteers, especially fosters. |
